What it is

BC charges 7% PST on most goods sold to customers in BC, including online sales. It is separate from GST and is filed with a different agency.

If you sell taxable goods to BC customers, you must be registered. Registration is free.

How to register

Register through eTaxBC. You will receive a PST number.

Collecting and filing

You collect PST from BC customers, then file and remit on a monthly, quarterly or annual schedule. File even if you collected nothing for the period.

Your supplier needs this number

Give your PST number to your supplier. It lets you buy goods for resale without paying PST, so you only charge PST once, to the end customer.

Selling outside BC

BC PST applies to goods delivered in BC. Other provinces have their own rules, so ask your accountant before you ship elsewhere.
