Regulated products
Some categories have their own rules in Canada, for example cosmetics and personal care, food, children's products and electrical items. In many cases the manufacturer or importer holds the licence or notification, and retailers are normally exempt. Ask your supplier for the documentation anyway.
Product claims
Do not repeat claims such as "non-toxic", "organic" or "BPA-free" unless your supplier can back them up in writing.
Clothing and textiles
Textile products may need fibre-content labelling under Canadian rules. Confirm what applies to each item.
Marketing
Keep descriptions and advertising accurate and not misleading. The Competition Bureau enforces this for online sellers too.
Check current rules
Rules change. Confirm anything here that matters to a specific product with Health Canada or the Competition Bureau.
